I have searched the archives, now I'm really confused. Could someone please answer this: 6V positive ground, yellow, black, red , and white wires: What goes where on the voltage regulator with Bat, Arm, and Fld? I know the black is ground.

Thanks a million

Thanks Arne, I saw that posting earlier. I'm still a little confused. On the generator, the red coming off the back is that the output? Is that the one that goes to the Arm on the regulator? That would make the BAT yellow and The FLD whould be white?

Ron,

What Dell said.

Heck, since Dell and Claus helped me out, I haven't even looked at the wiring 'cause it has been charging and starting ever since. :-)

Ron..... ..yes, generator ARM post (large stud on flatback of generator) is the generator output and is traditionally a heavy gauge BLK w/YEL tracer wire. It goes to the voltage regulator ARM terminal.

The generator FLD post (on roundside of generator) is insulated and traditionally BLK w/WHT tracer. It goes to the voltage regulator FLD terminal.

The generator GND post (on roundside of generator) is NOT insulated and is traditionally BLK w/RED tracer. It now goes to one of the voltage regulator mounting screws. Understand?

The Voltage Regulator Output BAT is traditionally a HEAVY YELLOW wire that goes to the terminal junction block on backside of dashpanel. From junction block it goes thru the ammeter to the BIG battery terminal on the starter solenoid.

Remember, electrons really don't care what color the wire insulation is, but they do care about the wire gauge. And you should care which end of the wire is connected where (color helps you care)

Remember the 6 volt mantra: "keep'em clean, bright, and tight"..... .....Dell

Thanks Guys. I got it now. If it weren't for all of you I would even mess with this stuff. Thanks.
