I was going to use some MarineTex to repair a sonar transducer. Unfortunately, the MarineTex grew legs and left town.

I have some JB Weld. Will it hold on plastic. I lost the package. Need to launch boat in early AM so any replies appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks guys! We routinely epoxy transducers to the inside of the hull so we can shoot through the hull instead of mounting the transducer on the outside of the transome. The JB weld did the job!

Depends on the plastic. If it's polypropylene, f'git it. That's gotta be welded with heat. Most other plastics will allow JB to stick. It'd be good to rough-up the part a bit with a little sandpaper to texturize the surface an' give it sumpthin ta grab aholt of.

I have fixed several plastic things with a 2 part epoxy, it wasn't JB weld, but it worked VERY well

Generally epoxies will not work on plastics. The only things that work with plastics are the type of adhesives that melt the base materials and weld the two pieces together. You might have better luck using 3m 5200, and encasing the piece with it.
