8n runs good cold-missing hot please help

two months ago i restored a 8n that has been sitting in a barn for about 20 years. it runs good cold but as soon as it gets warm it starts missing like a couple of cylinders are not firing. this broblem just started this week. i changed plugs, plug wires,coil, i dont know what next, if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

p.s. i couldnt have done it without you guys. this is a great site. Thanks

If you can not trace this to a ignition or other basic system i would do a running compression test. If you need info. for this test I will fax it to you

Did you change the condensor? You might also want to check the manifold for air leaks. It may be that when it gets hot, something expands enough to let some air in. It could also be a bad coil, which sometime happens even with a new one. Is this a front-mount distributor or side-mount? Check the keyswitch for continuity also, when it starts running rough, by using a jumper wire to bypass it.

If you have a VOM or DMM you might want to check the resistor mounted on the back of the dash. Seems like there was a case several months ago where the resistor was either broken or loose and was causing some intermittent problems when it got warm.

heading for the country, it might be the manifold, after you mentioned it i think i had a nut missing when i put it back together and forgot to get another one. i'll let you know what happens. thanks ricky
