Five degrees and blowing snow: I was using my front mounted Dearborn plow on my Ford 9N and had been operating for about five minutes. The blade went down slow, I made another pass, raised the blade and then the blade would not lower. Checked the fluid level, full. Backed my 9-N into the garage as it is cold . I will try again in the a.m., but will things work? What do I need to do? I would appreciate any info as the snow is piling up. Thanks, Al

Al, Do you have water in the case? Too thick oil? They take 80-90 Wt. oil in the case. Have you had this tractor in the cccollldd before with no problem? If not I would change the oil. Sounds like the oil is to thick maybe. Try that first. Its cheaper.

Thanks JimNC for your reply. It has been very cold here in Wisconsin and I have not changed the oil in the three point lift of my 9N. You stated that they take 80-90 Wt. oil. Does the multipurpose oil do the trick also? No way of telling what is in there. Bought tractor 19 months ago at an auction. Last Friday, with temperature in single digits, the blade had dropped, I got tractor started with charger. After a while, blade would raise and lower, but it was slow and jerky. Would you or anyone know if it would/could still be the oil-maybe to thick? Last summer, my dad power washed tractor to paint it, could moisture have gotten into the hydraulic oil system? Thanks for any replies.
