Got about 12" of snow so far today and expecting another 6" or so by morning...maybe more!

Can't wait to plow out the old road to the barn in the morning.

I love hiking out there to the barn, opening the big old doors, turn on the gas to the 51 8N, start her up, while she's warming up for a few minutes I check a few things, spray the back blade with WD-40, light a cigar, hop on the N and start moving snow!

Then I help out a couple of the neighbors with their drive ways.

I love plowing the snow, especially when there is a lot of it, still fascinated at how much snow the N can move...just don't like doing it if there is a -5 wind chill.

To the rest of you guys here in Upstate NY and in the North East have fun Plowing and be safe!

-Sal

Got over 20" down here on the NY/PA border. Plowed snow for years with my Super C; now I use my Cherokee with a Western plow, heater going, a cup of coffee and the radio tuned to the "oldies" sation. Still use the Super C to play around with and for cleaning up but my comment about the "oldies" station should give you an idea of where I'm comin' from these days. But to all of you still using tractors, have fun and be safe.

Where along the border are you? I live in Bradford co. about 10 miles south of NY state. We received about a foot here. I use a combo of equipment. My truck for the main drives then switch to one of the tractors to get in closer to the buildings and then switch to the garden tractor for the foot paths. I spend pretty much a whole day doing all the plowing. And love every minute of it.

Here in Elma we only got a "Buffalo Dusting"... about 10-12 inches. Seriously, I hope no one here minds that we use a pickup with a Western plow to move snow. It's just a bit warmer, that's all.

I'm out of commission due to foot surgery, so my stepdad (lives nextdoor) has been doing the plowing... usually always does it as he's retired. It's great, he'll be up and plowing before I have to leave for work. We do have Mom's 8N ready in the barn with blade and chains in case of problems with the pickup.

I love plowing snow, when my stepdad lets me. There's just something very primal about plowing snow... man & machine working in harmony to push back nature's fury. Wow, that's like, pretty heavy.

Wow, you are one sick puppy. We are having another mild winter here and I don't care if I ever use my snowblower again. If there's any way short of prayinng to Satan that I can avoid putting on those #$$%%$* chains, I'll do it.

Just got done plowing 20" of 'Mrs White'. And this is on top of the 30" she gave us on Christmas day. I suppose I should forget about a 'mild winter' and get serious, and put on the front wheel weights.

Here in My part of Missouri. Our First and Last snow was In October. It was a Dusting. We are in some what of a drought. I think I heard the weather man say it's been about 43 days or somewhere around there with out rain.

My pond is looking more like a puddle. It's suppose to be in the 50's today. We could use some moisture around here. About the only reason for my N is to blade the drive way and keep the gravel smooth. But she's ready if I ever need her.

You must be in the same weather pattern that Central and Southern Iowa are in. We are basking in warm temperatures (mid-upper 40's today). We've not seen any snow other than a dusting before Halloween.

It sure don't seem like the Middle of winter.. We finaly got a few sprinkles today. It clouded up real good, but Just couldn't ring much moisture out of the clouds.

When I used to go to Toronto 3x per week, my co-driver and myself would puzzle over why anybody would want to live in such a place as Buffalo or anywhere else that accumulates so much snow. I left snow country 36 years ago and can't figure out the attraction of that cold, wet, messy stuff. It's Dixieland for me. It was 65º yesterday. Bush-hogging beats snow plowing with an N any day

It's really not bad...If you like to ski or snowmobile it's fun...besides my family is all here and the snow doesn't bother me...personally I am not into the warmer southern weather.

Look on the bright side with all the snow we get there is no big drought problem here.

We all like different areas and this is fine for me.

I'm with you bg. I don't mind a visit or 2 per year, but I couldn't live like that 4-6 months a year. I was in Korea for 9 1/2 months and 6 months of it was snow and cold. Had a 2 day party when it melted. Love to visit and snowmobile. Or if like my buddy in the U.P., drew unemployeement for 3-4 months, meanwhile, odd job, hunt, icefish, and play in the snow. I might not mind it so much.(%^) Doubt I could be that lucky. Got a lot of respect for people that can stand the cold for so long. It'd be awful crowded down here if they all decided to move South. LOL

Thanks for reminding me it's winter. Here it is January the 3rd and we have had no snow to amount to anything in the Milwaukee area. I did remind my wife just this morning that I had better bring home my NAA from our horse farm and put the chains on, remove the bucket and put on the plow. Last winter I only had to plow once. Times are a changing in the Wisconsin winters.

yee haw, here I am in norwich,ny, got about 14"+ going to have to plow it again in the mornin, I love it, finally able to do it again, they say up to 36" but I will wait and see that,, oh well the boys love it, sleddin down the driveway, I have to turn the blade around and do it with the rounded side so I dont mess up the "hill" from the barn to the back of the house.. kids ya gotta love em.. I got a heck of a hill behind the barn, pasture, but too deep and it aint worth a darn,, well gonna warm up and get ready to do more in the mornin, had to do 2 neighbors too, maybe only 1 tommorow, the dad may come with his 1910, and take my fun away hahha, but still have the "city" neighbor who wants his drive clear, never knows when he is gonna be up, have fun everyone and be safe out there,, I need an emergency light on my N,, can I hook up a regular 12 volt lamp on the back for say like a red emergency flasher,, or does it need to be a 6 volt ?? scary in the road in the snow, especially when the snow is coming down, even though the road is fairly quite.

Pat..... ...ya can get battery operated emergency flashers which would probably be a better way to go than trying to find a 6 volt flasher to wire into your tractor electrics..... .....Dell

OK, I've about had enough of this crap.... Will you guys knock it off..... I am in southern Wisconsin.... I've been waiting for almost a year to go move snow and I'm still waiting.... I go out and warm up the N almost every night just to make sure she's ready... sometimes I go out and make a circle in the field to make sure she'll go when needed. Two weeks ago I burned a brush pile so I could "plow" the ashes around. (It wasn't quite as much fun?) We did get around half an inch of snow back a couple of months ago. (^&( stuff was gone before I got home from work to move it) Ma nature was just teasing... If this global warming stuff keeps up I may have pack her up and move east!

Glad you boys are enjoying the snow out East. We have nothing in Wisconsin, but will be glad to pass up and pass on future snowfalls to you snow birds out East. Problem with snow in WI. and U.P. of Michigan is that when we get it, it stays until spring, not melting after a couple of days.

Hi from another Yank in WI. I could go home to Vermont and have way more snow to play in. 'Course then I'd have to drive 1100 miles west for a decent fish fry!

Just finished up for the second time. We got 14" so far over here in Endicott NY. with another 6"
comming by morning. Upgraded from my TO20 to a 3400 some years ago. Run a front Dearborn blade with loaded rears with pie weights and double ring chains. Real snow moving machine. More to plow in the AM.

Take care, and stop over one of these days, we're only some 5 miles apart?

Dave,

How can you not use chains in this stuff???

I leave the field chains on my 51 all year round since parts of my place are a bit swampy I can always use the traction.

I didn't think you plowed snow with your N since you got 4 sons...just get them shovels...then try to motivate them...LOL

Yeah we should get together at the diner for a bite soon.

Have fun!

I've never had chains. Never wanted to mess with them. Tires are filled and I use a 5' blade in Wisc. Been using the N for 13 years. The only time I've had trouble is when the snow was so deep the N belly started riding up and over it. Had to rock it back forth to get off the pile. Don't think chains would have helped me in that situation. Maybe I'm missing something and don't know it?
