hello all. I know this is way ot, but with winter here and the hope that spring will again come when mother nature is ready here in upstate ny, I got to thinking about the possibility of me going to a few auctions, for farm machinery and the like,, does anyone know of a place or listing ,or way,, or publication, or,,or,,,,, that has places that have farm and machinery auctions,, other than say like the pennysaver and newspaper?? I am thinking maybe something that lista all the auctions in say like ny,nj,and pa?? just a thought,, and I figured if any one would know it would be someone on this board, as has been stated prior,, there is a wealth of info on this board, thanks guys have a good one plying in the snow.

Country Folks, P.O. Box 121, Palatine Bridge, N.Y. 13428-0121. One year (52 issues) $35.00. Most of the auctions are in N.Y., But they have some from Pa. N.J. Ohio, and Ct. They got about 10 auctions listed this week (1-6-03) + the 30 or so on the auction calendar. Use to be,I didnt know of all the auctions I was missing. Now I do.

I'd do several things to find local auctions...

Go to Google and search for "Auction New York" or "Auction Rochester New York" or something similar.

I'd search for the Auctioneers' Association for the states in which you're interested. They're likely to have an auction calendar.

I'd search for websites for ag related newspapers in your area. They're likely to have web-based auction ads or at least some clues on where you might find the papers themselves in order to read auction ads.

Look in the yellow pages for auctioneers and call a few local ones to ask if they're having any sales and if you can get on their mailing lists. Also ask them where they place their ads and watch that paper.

Hope this helps.

Here's a link to Lancaster Farming. They have an auction register on their website. Also, they have many pages in their weekly newspaper devoted to auctions in the Mid-Atlantic area.

Hea AL,

I agree that the "LANCASTER FARMER" newspaper is a good resource. I just received copy by calling them on their 800 phone no. and asked for a sample copy. I found the real paper better than the computer copy. I don't think they have the recipes in the computer. My office girl is from the SOUTH and she insists that I git my daily dose of GRITS. I would love a bowl of MUSH right about now. I will just have to do it myself. :})

John, I haven't had mush in years. After my grandfather got Lou Gehrig's Disease, he could not butcher anymore and all of the family recipes were lost with his passing. What I really miss is the home-made "pudding and scrapple" that he used to make.
