Went to a home show today to find out the latest in 'decor' and other gadgets. Had a great time looking at the many "green" tractors and lawn mowers. My wife said "Honey, will you go over to that lunch stand and get me a something to drink?" So I dutifully went to the counter and looked at the menu for 'drinks'. Colas: $2.00, Water: $2.00, Coffee $1.50. $2 bucks for soda and $1.50 for coffee is bad enough, but $2 for water when 20 ft. away was a public drinking fountain where water was free? And you guessed it, most of the people in line wanted that water. And I'll bet these are the same people who complain that they don't earn enough to buy food.

about five years ago i was in hyde park ny, while driving down a hill toward the main hwy. i noticed the city had installed a new water tank up on a hill and could see where a new pipe line had been buried down to the roadway. a fire plug had been installed next to the road. hooked to the fire plug was a 18 wheel tanker with a big sign on the side advertising XXXX FRESH SPRING WATER. i always had my suspicions about that bottled water and that sure confirmed them.

RoN..... ...While I was reading all the posts, all I could think of was my wife. There is no use trying to use logic with her, (she is a bottle water drinker) but I have had her for 30yr. now and have had her rebuild so many time I can’t afford to get shed of her now.(tongue in cheek)

P.S. She doesn’t use the computer or I wouldn’t have make this post.

The most recent research shows that bottled water has the fluoride removed, so it is bad for the teeth. The minerals have also been removed and the Drs. say that non-mineral water is harmful to the body. That's not good, is it?

Not sure about the prices out your way, but I always opt for a beer. Made with water as well...DaBrow

Goes right with something I've been saying for a
long time. If ya wonna get rich invent something
utterly useless. If you have something practical
or usefull the buyer will have to justify the cost. If it's useless and you can convince people they
"have" to have it price will be no object.

I agree with you.

It's very odd that they can drill a hole in the ground 10,000 miles away, pump out the fluid from a depth of thousands of feet, then process it and ship it across the ocean, distribute by tanker truck and allow us to pump it into our automobile or tractor and only charge $1.50 per gallon. And then we whine about the high price. And we are willing to pay approximately $16.00 per gallon for something that is free! Jim

Many feel bottled water is healthier....I do not drink from my sink since I repaired one of my old metal water pipes and saw the nasty sludge build up...like wise i would also perfer the bottled water vs the water fountain because they usually are not cold and often they have a strange taste(excessive chlorine/rust) laters..... .indy

If you buy a bottle of water, you can carry it with you. Kinda hard to do with a drinking fountain.....Another thing. I've seen loyts of folks who don't know how to drink out of a drinking fountain without putting their lips all over it. No telling what you might catch....

About 12 years ago while in Hillsville Va. at the Trade Lot I saw a Vendor's sign that read "Pepsi & Mt. Dew" 50 cents, "Water" $1.00.
Now what did they make those sodas out of??
Go figure, supply & demand I guess.

Yeah...Same people that trundle a $400 exercise machine out to the middle of the parking lot at Wally-World and then leave the damn cart behind the car parked next to them instead of returning it to the store....takes too much TIME & ENERGY....besides they can hardly wait to get home and start exercising!

they may be "iggurunt" but I read recently that even at high prices bottled water is out-selling any brand of cold drink or "beverage".Somebody's thinking about profit.
