Ok N Guys, I took my (47 2N) rear wheel hubs off, to check the brakes (WHEW what a greasy mess!) and I can see one of the roller bearings is messed up a little bit, needs replaced. Got the bearing retainer collar off by drilling and chiseling. Thought the bearing would slide off at this point - Wrong! It seems to be pressed onto the axle. The FO4 manual says to 'Pull it off with a suitable puller'. Gee thats a great idea, why didn't I think of that?

Can anybody tell me how to rig up a puller to pull that hub and bearing off the axle? It's like 2 feet from the end of the shaft so a regular old gear puller ain't gonna reach.

I'm going to replace the beaings, seals and brake shoes, need to get it all apart so I can clean it all up, repaint, etc.

Thanks in advance, I know one of you guys has already been here.

I VERY CAREFULLY torched mine off, but a press at a shop is a better alternative.

Older RWD car axles responded well to a hydraulic press and a bearing separator. Never done an N axle (still working my way to the rear ;-)

Sorry I can't be of more help. When I did repair my rear brakes, hubs ect. I did not have to replace the bearings, they were alright. I did use the SURE SEALS. Hope someone will give you insight as to replaceing your actual bearing.
