Working on these tractors I have always needed a penetrating oil and have never really found something that works particularly well....I saw something on the Trucks TV show the other day about this stuff called Gibbs Oil.....It is apparently not kerosene based as you can paint right over it ....you don't have to degrease it....On their Website they specifically talk about freeing stuck tractor engines in minutes .....Degreasing the blocks and then painting right over it.....This stuff sounds good and has been around for awhile ....I would like to try it but you know the saying ....If it sounds too good to be true.....QUESTION IS.....Has anyone out there heard of or tried this stuff....Does it really work as well as they say OR is it snakeoil....I have no affiliation..... Thanks...Alan

They advertise in Farm Collector Magazine. They claim they couldn't put it in an aerosol can because it was too slippery and would get past the valve. I've been wondering about it, too. Why don't you be a brave soldier and buy some and give us a report?

I've used Kano Kroil and now I use PB-Blaster, like them both.

Gibbs Penetrating Oil is guaranteed to work.
There are real live people at the 800# to answer questions and you can buy it online. I have
used it to break loose an engine and it worked.
It also does not smell bad like PB Blaster.

Did you try WD45?....

I was given a heads up by my cousin that is restoring a Model T. He found some stuff called Aerokroil made by Kano Laboratories in Nashville, Tennesee. It has broken loose some very tough stuff and is currently working on the front axle pin of my 9N. We can find it here in the Northwest at Tacoma Screw Products. The phone number on the can is (615) 833-4101.

I do not know about painting over it as my parts get cleaned after the removal process.

Also I have read that Dell uses white vinegar to loosen parts...Dell, could you give us your recipe?

Marvin..... ..just plain ol' white vinegar, strait from the bottle, has an affinity for rust. Its cheap. Sometimes weak is better than strong. Theres a chemical reaction thats going on, but I took chemistry 40 yrs ago and gotts CRS.

I first ran across its use for un-freezing a block with rusted piston/rings. Just poured in the cylinders, let it set, maybe try to turn flywheel every now'n then, does take a while, maybe couple of weeks but doesn't damage aluminum pistons or iron block..... ...Dell

White vinegar..aka acetic acid. Dell I wonder if it makes a difference if it is manufactured acetic acid or the vinegar that has gone through the fermenting process and has some of the fruit eznymes and protein complexes that make it do what it do to stuck parts ?? Fermented fruit juice sure loosens me up ! LOL
