Rear wheel rocks

Just noticed I can rock my rear wheel sideways, Does anyone have pics and info on proper way to adjust rear axle and nuts? Just bought a repair C.D. but it dosent even cover that area! thanks Reno J.

If you have an 8N, the large nut in the center of the rear hub is supposed to be torqued to 450 ft lbs. If that doesn't solve the problem you may have to replace the hub and axle.

If the rear assembly (wheel, axle, brake drum, etc) moves straight out to the side then you may need to shim it properly but usually such movement is too little to see until it is apart. If it moves enough to see then the bearing may be bad.

If you have a 9N/2N then you will have to wait for someone who is familiar with them, as I am not.

Hi Reno,

You might want to chat with someone who understands shims. I don't know the mil, or better known as the metal gauge of the shim-stock that is in the kits. I would try "bg."
