I thought it was safe to assume I have a 9N based on the Serial number '9N208827'...but I am getting some comments that it is an 8N or a 2N...anybody know why this isn't a 9N...and what then it is...and of course why?

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Andrew-
I believe you have a 2N The 2N began production in 1942 with serial number 99003 and ended in 1947 with 296131. Hope this is of some help. Why would someone say it is an 8N with the 9N prefix?

Tim, there are so many N's that have had engine swaps that a 8N could have a 9N engine. 30 years ago that was cheaper than a rebuild.

Barnstormer-
Yes, your right, I overlooked the obvious. Perhaps other signs like if the trans is three or four speed, rear wheels, air cleaner, generator, etc., would be more of a true indication of it's identity.

Thanks
Tim

Based on your serial # you should have a 1946 2N. All 2N serial #'s begin with 9N. Or you could have another model if the engine has been replaced. Need more info. Check out the link below to find out how to tell.
