Hey all -

Just got back from a week in Mexico. We put a roof on a church in Salvaierra - just below Leon and above Mexico City. I thought we would see a bunch on N's, but not a one. I was hoping to pick some parts up cheap. Did the N make into Mexico. I thought it would. All I saw was new/newer IH, JD, and Fords. Only one old Farmall.

Just ordered more parts from Ford8N. Should have the 2N together this week!!

Phil

If you did hit the jackpot, chances are they are cheaper in the U.S. For example a take a typical $3000 used car here in Tejas, in the heart of Mexico it would probably bring $4000-$5000. Also try buying a gallon of gas down there, $30 to fill up a Toyota.

Another interesting little OT tidbit about tractors and Mexico: They love Diesels there, and Syncro-Range type transmissions (as opposed to Power Shift or hydrostatic) because you only have to have one battery on the rancho. (This was told to me by a Mexican corn producer.) You simply start the one tractor with a battery, then pull the rest to get them going. Saves a lot on overhead/shrink from the batteries winding up in the employees' cars!

Many of the "N"s in southwestern Ontario end up going to Mexico. Throughout summer flatbed loads of them regulatily are heading towards Detroit bound for Mexico. Apparently these are quite a hot item. Why not, they are easy to repair and parts are plentiful.
