I am needing a simple software program to track and schedule preventive maintenance schedules on all my equipment....tractors, implements and shop equipment The ideal solution would be to obtain the type of software where I could list each individual piece of equipment, information about the equipment, the frequency of maintenance, and the PM task to be performed. My goal would be to depend on the computer each day to tell me what equipment I needed to service. I would have records of service for warranty work and it would be one less thing I would have to remember...knowing the equipment was cared for in the proper way. Any help would be appreciated.

I use Auto Maintenance Pro at work to track our company fleet. It is pretty good software and sounds like it will do what you want. Like most good software it takes a bit to set it up initially, but once you're set up it works like a breeze.

There are a couple of freeware programs on the site below that might do what you want.

Simple becomes a problem when defined by level of expertise, investment limit, etc. Here is an affordable, Windows-based maintenance program that lets you imbed pictures of the equipment, schedule tasks, track time for maintenance, etc. You could do all of this with a database program like Access, since you're not developing a network application, but this seems to be pretty inclusive for a really cheap price. If you have Microsoft Access(database program)it will integrate with this

maintenence program

Hate to say it but a plain ol' spiral notebook works the best for me. One for each machine. Do maintenance on even hours--for instance, if you change engine oil every 100 hours, do it on the hundreds. If you run over and change it at 412 hours, still do the next change at 500. Maintenance scheduled for 500's do at multiples of 500. What I did to make it simple and almost foolproof was any maintenance for 600, we'd do at 500, basically the oddballs would be rounded to nearest 500 or 100, to keep things simple. Does require you to walk around and check the hourmeters but you're walking around checking out machinery anyways, aren't you? Gives you a chance to do a walk thru every so often, too. Be surprised how little effort it is. In the notebook I would write down anything done to that machinery, from touching up a rusty spot to tightening a belt. That way I know exactly what has been done to each machine. Makes for a lot of notebooks, maybe you could use the word processor to keep a file on each one and just add a line or two and re-save each time.

a inductive hourmeter from Sears. Just wrap the little pickup lead around a spark plug wire and it'll count clock hours that the plugs are sparking. I have on all my small equipment and am going to put one on the 9N when I get it working, since it has no hourmeter.
