I need a new front pump for my loader and have been shopping around. The problem I am having is what pump to buy. I can buy the pump that is advertised as being for a wagner fel, which is what I have, or I can buy any number of other vane or gear pumps which look similar. So long as the gpm's and other spec are close to the same does it matter? As far as the mounting bracket goes I can make any sort of bracket needed so I don't care if it matches the existing or not. Does the size of the input shaft to the pump matter or can any pump be adapted to drive off the crank? Also, what is SAE "A" and SAE"B" mounting mean? and is SAE Oring input/output standard or are there other hose connection types that I need to be aware of? Thanks again, Andy

Basically, quality aside, parts is parts. The more gallons per minute the faster the cycle times and the more it will cost and the more power to drive it.

A vane pump will drag less at startup and if you live in a cold climate that might be a consideration although I run a twelve gpm gear pump in Montana and have no trouble.

SAE A & B are standard mounting flanges, just like SAE catagory one etc are standard three point arrangements to make things interchange. As long as the flange you have can be mounted to the loader it will serve.

Direction of rotation matters on most pumps. Size of drive shaft doesn't so long as you can buy or fabricate an adapter.

Fittings are adaptable at any good hydralic shop. The guys who make up hoses in your neck of the woods should have what you need if you miss but if you tell the vendor what your are replacing most will take the time to sell you the fittings too.

Lastly have you tried Surplus Center 1-800-488-3407? They usually do best on price and service for me.

YOur mileage may vary
