I am just putting my 8n 1948 engine together and when I compare the width of the seals to the groove they fit in, no way. The rubber seals measures about .172 and the width of the groove is about .090. As I see it, my options are to either turn the groove wider, go to the store and buy some o-rings that fit, or just leave them out completely. What do you think? I know I have put them on before but never had this trouble. Thanks Roger

The guide seals will fit. Just cram them in and install them.

Don't leave them out or you may encounter all sorts of problems.

If you do you may be able to attach a hose to the oil filler tube and vaccumm leaves in the fall. :o)

Just checked a old guide and it's .218. Leve them out, not me but I am sure it's been done. They may still be wondering why it smokes. The intake side has vacuum on it and it will suck oil with out them.I think I would have peace of mind and put seals on the intake guides
