third party image

This is my first attempt at posting a picture, so any hints on making it better are appreciated. Just wondering if anyone knows where this adjustable top link came from? I first thought it was original but it has no part numbers on it and I have never seen another one like it in all the photos or tractors I have looked at. Thanks, and Merry Christmas.

I got one similar to that only not as heavy with my 801 Ford tractor, mine never had square iron on the link, but did have the wheel, I'm not sure if I sold it with my 801 tractor or if it's up at my property. Some-where around here I got a picture of it , but can't seem to find it anywhere. Stan

Bill, I could not read any numbers on the rocker but I think the '39-'53 MPC lists the rocker as 9N 535-B. I will clean it up and look again when I get a chance. Thanks.

I'd like to find one like that. It would be very handy for using my pallet forks. Sometimes I need to adjust the pitch of the forks in the middle of a chore. You want to sell?

An old boy around here has a homemade one along the same lines. He welded it up using a big turnbuckle.

Jim, I also have some pallet forks that I originally used on my Jubilee, which has extra valve for a remote cyl. and such. So had cyl. welded up for hyd. adjustable top link, used it for moving logs around so had to be able to tilt for dumping logs, and so on. Well, later I wanted to use forks on 8N but no hyd.? So mounted pump on p.t.o. shaft so now can tilt forks from seat w/aux. hyd. power. Just a thought. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

You're right, that's what I should do, plumb a remote hydraulic line to the top link. My tractor is an 850 so it could be done. Unfortunately, I'm hydraulically challenged. I'll need to do some more question asking to figure out exactly what's required for a remote hyd line on my unit.

Over the years lots of firms have made lots of top links for lots of different tractors. Obvously this one has been on a Ford tractor because of the forensic remains seen in the picture. I was a parts man in the 60s at a Ford dealership and I sold lots of different manufactured top links. Can't say I ever sold one like this but I do remember ones with a wheel for turning to adjust the length.

Zane: What am I not seeing? This looks like the top link for an add-on three point for a 50s tractor that didn't come from the factory with a 3-point. I don't see how it would fit a Ford. Seems to me I have seen a similar added onto an IH or Massey many years ago. But boy I look twice when you see it as Ford related. Merry Christmas Mi

I didn't mean that it was for sure for a Ford tractor but that one in the picture has for sure been used on a ford tractor because part of the Ford tractor is still connected to it.(the rocker) What is left of it anyway!

Thanks Zane, your eyes are as sharp as your mind! What is left of the rocker, for that matter the whole thing came off this 2N. It really is not in as bad a shape as it looks in the picture though. Just some surface rust and nails where cotter pins should be. The chain has also been broken and crudely repaired. I will clean it up and put it back on.
