I haven't been here in a while. Last year, mid-summer, an early evening storm blew in. During that storm a lightning bolt came through my roof, hit the computer monitor, zorching the computer along with an assortment of other items that were were plugged into the same leg of the electrical service. About three minutes before it happened I had been closing a window about 18" from where the bolt blew a hole in the drywall!(aparently god is a bad shot?) Other than a loosened ground connection the house wiring seems to be ok. Fortunately no fire resulted, but the smoke, wood & plaster dust, and vaporized paint, (not to mention the mess from the repairs) required a fair amount of clean-up. The old computer was pretty much toast, so I rounded up the parts to build a bigger and better one. Although I've had the computer "kit" for some time, I have finally gotten around to it putting it together and getting it working.

I hope everyone has been ok.....Al English

I've done follow-ups on homes after lightning strikes for 31 years, before retirement three years ago. I've seen everything from mirrors blackend only to total burn to a slab or crawl space. One of the weirdest was in Atlanta Ga. Lightning hit a pine tree about 25' from the house, the lightning jumped over to a drain for a down spout, shot up the full draining down spout hit the corner of the brick house, split and opened the corner of the outside wall to where one could walk in the bedroom from outside. There was no fire. The owner was asleep in the bed when the lightning hit. He was unhurt.

Think I'd take out more insurance, but then again they say lightening doesn't strike twice in the same spot. LOL

Glad no one was hurt. That's the important thing. All else can be replaced.

Sure have missed your great advice you have given in the past. Happy to see you back.

Welcome back Al!
Some time ago a post was made wondering about your whereabouts. Sorry to hear about the damage, but glad to hear you're ok and back!
