Does anybody know, is a 9N/2N air cleaner a lot different than the 8N's? I need to get one for my 2N but all I see advertised are the 8N models.

When I bought it, the tractor had a air cleaner that I think came from a later model Ford, too large for a 2N and it was bolted to the side of the hood. Very cute! NOT!

Maybe I'll check with some salvage yards.

My tractor has the hole in the hood for the intake stack, I'd really like to find one of those if possible.

The original 9N air cleaner was "open" at the top with a wire element and wire mesh held on with a plate and a wing nut - think muscle car air cleaner with mesh element. In addition, the original 9n oil cup was held on with a clamp, rather than the two clips of the later 2n/8n and the oil cup was rounded off at the bottom like a bowl, rather than a cup.

The 2n had the open top, but had the later style clamps on the bottom and a "squared off" oil cup.

The 8n has a sealed top with a hole to attach to the air cleaner door/funnel on the hood.

For what its worth, I just sent Don B at Just 8N's a nice 2N air cleaner.

Good luck!

OH Boy, I've been told those stack air cleaners were off of 9ns. and I was told they were optional for tractors for various reasons. As far as the difference between the 8n -9n air intakes, Where the hose hooks up to the air cleaner that runs down to the carb. Some were straight out and some ran at about a 45 degree angle down. You could put a post on asking Ultra Dog which is which, When he was down and bought some parts from me he wanted one and the one I had was wrong for his tractor. John

Been watching ebay from time to time but haven't seen any for 2N on there. Do you happen to know the ebay auction number or whatever it is they call that?
