Well the weather warmed up to 20 so I thought I try to start my tractor. I pulled the choke and it started kind like put put put never really kicking in fully. It first would kill when I let out the clutch but then it warmed up enough and didn't kill. But once I put it in reverse, it killed and then I couldn't get it started again. It may get flooded easily because I smell gas. But I let it sit for a while and it still did not start. Any ideas

Like Gary said except you might want to try a Champion H12 or Autolite 437 either of which is a hotter plug than the original H10.

I just bought the 8n this fall I know the spark plugs are new I will make sure they are dry. But it does sound like when I did start it not all the spark plugs were firing so I check them all

Double check your firing order 1243. Often as not, the last two cylinders are reversed.

New or not, hotter plugs might still help. Are they gaped correctly?

Yea, do like Gary says, you could also put thiner oil in the bottom of the air cleaner,I dont even try and start my 8n if its below 20 untill I keep a magnitic heater on the oil pan a few hours, take a heating torch to the exhaust manifold for a few minutes, remove both, give it a shot of starting fluid, away we go. In the summer it starts on the first or second crank ( must be the Ford in it ? ) .Im going to check it out if it ever gets above freezing around here, I think the carb gaskets are bad .

You probably need to pull the plugs. If they are fairly new, you might catch your wife not looking and put them on the stove eye to dry the gas out. It might be safer to just buy a new set, probably H-10, gapped at .032 where I have my bestluck. If you have to run the choke for a long time in cold weather you may want to openthe load jet just a tad to enrich it. When it warms up, you can adjust it like it needs to be.
