Ole Henry quit.

While plowing sleet (~5") today, Ole Henry just up and quit. No spit, no sputter, no nothing, just quiet, and I was just thinking how good it was running. (I know, just have fun and don't be thinking.)

Traced the problem to the distributor. The wire from the points was grounding against the inside of the distributor body at the connection. I didn't see anything to insulate it, just the bolt, connector, and body. I fabricated an "insulator" from a piece of thin cardboard, and got it to the shed.

Question - what goes between the body and the wire, and, how was it running so good before it quit?

All suggestions appreciated.

JA

John..... ..yep, there's supposta be a square insulative washer inside your sidemount distributor points wire feedthru. p/n 7RA-12234.

Sometimes you can find a useable nylon washer at a good hardware store. You might even find one at a real Ford automotive parts counter using that part number (never hurts to ask). Of course, you can always order one from a good N-Tractor store. You were very clever in diagnosising your problem and improvising a temporary fix..... ..Dell

Thanks for the confirmation. I knew something was supposed to be there but didn't know exactly what. Must have fallen out/broken/who knows, while I was plowing.

Thanks again.
