A Weighty Question....

Hey Guys,

After slip-sliding around Sunday blading snow, I've decided that I DEFINITELY need some more rear weight. I've seen pictures of cast concrete wheel weights for both the 9/2 and the 8N tractors, but have yet to talk to someone who's actually done it. Does anyone have any experiences/tips to share regarding homemade wheel weights like this?

Thanks in advance.

Ron

have you tried chains yet???? they work well and will stop the sliping alot. the only problem with the weights is taking more off the front end and not steering as well. you can run a chain on each rear wheel and 1 chain on either front wheel you want and i have found that workd well for me on my 9n

Kenny,

I DO have chains, but the 1/4" layer of ice under the wind-packed snow still slid me around in the deeper places. This also happened three years ago, when we got a "snow cone" snow, heavy and completely sodden. It throws me around like a child's rag doll. I'm sure extra weight would solve a lot of the problem, according to what I've read here in a lot of posts by those who have both chains AND rear weight.
