Hello guys,

I have always been impressed with the way the folks here support each other and share what's going on in their lives...and I guess I'd like to share a bit of what is going on with me.

Well, tomorrow I have a second interview with a great company. I am well prepared and very hopeful about this opportunity.

The company makes high quality products and has been growing steadily for the last 25 years. More importantly they actually value people and are known for treating the workers very well.

This is a big deal to me and would mean a lot for my wife and children. I pray this is what The Lord has intended for me. I'll let you know how it goes.

Take care.

-Sal

Hi Sal, We will keep you in our thoughts today, and hope everything works out for you in securing the job you desire to have, to support you and your family. If you do not achieve this job, remember there is something nicer for you and quite often we may get disappointed, when our thoughts are set on the "job" and we don't succeed. You have a great attitute for the interview. Keep us posted and we give you the support. Cheers, Murray

Way to go. Also some bits of unsolicited advice. I have both changed jobs, and have one among several where I hire both professional and hourly staff. Interviews are pretty straightforward. Look sharp. Be confident yet not cocky, know where you want to go and what you want to do and don't be afraid to tell them that. Finally, make sure your interview and resume match and that any holes in it make sense. I was fired from a job after 20 months as a top level manager because the company had 8 owners, each with a bunch of kids that were employees. It was simply a personality conflict. On the surface, a 20 month stint doesn't look good until you explain it. Logic needs to prevail. If you changed a job or lost a job, don't be afraid to tell them why. Only time I steered away from someone is when what was in their resume or interview didn't make sense. Appears something is being covered up.

For what it is worth. Good luck.

JU

Sal
It takes gumption to get out and make these kinds of changes in your life. It's hard to do.
But we're rooting for you here.
Good luck
Jerry

Good Luck, Sal.

Be Positive. Be Friendly. Shake hands firmly. Look everyone in the eye. Listen well. Try not to be too nervous. Be humble. Try not to impress. Be willing to learn. Be willing to try new things. Be willing to freely accept change. Don't use too many buzz-words or trendy phrases, such as: "Think out of the box," "Proactive," and so on. Let them do the talking. Be ready to answer their questions when they ask them. Don't be afraid to admit that you're not sure what whey're asking you. Ask them to clarify if necessary... that's shows that you're trying to do your best and are willing to admit you're not sure what's expected of you. Keep your answers short, and consice, that is, don't go on and on.

I've had to interview quite a number of people. I've been trained to do it, and I'm just as nervous doing it as the person in front of me. Our training stresses that 2 people should usually condust the interview. Don't be surprised if you have 2-3 people in front of you asking questions, etc.

Again, best of luck. You'll do fine.

Bri
