I recently went about adjusting the brakes on my 8N. I got the left side brake working good, but then the manual says to adjust the clevis to adjust the right side. For the life of me, I can't figure out where the clevis is. I tried loosening the pedal on the shaft and rotating it, but it didn't do anything. It still goes all the way to the footrest and does nothing. Thanks for your help...

After you have located the clevis, per Dell's directions, get your torch out. It's a lot easier the first time to just remove the entire left brake rod. Chances are it will be frozen solid, as mine were on both of my N's. The front pin is easy to remove with some Liquid Wrench and a punch, as you can get to it. The rear pin (and the clevis) is much more difficult to remove, as you can not get a punch on the pin. So....remove the cotter key, then hold the torch on the pin for a long time....5 minutes. Let it cool by itself. No water, no oil. Next, spray the pin with Liquid Wrench. Then, get out your vice grips, and start working the pin loose. Once you get the pin out and the rod off the tractor, the clevis will then be frozen to the rod. So, same trick with the torch. Heat it for 5 minutes or so, let it cool, then work the clevis off the rod. Clean up the threads on the rod with you wire brush, paint all of it, and reinstall. Now, adjusting the pedal height on both of my N's is easy. Good luck!

Andy..... ...both left and right brakes are adjusted the same way. Use a brake spoon thru the back of brakes. The clevis is on the left relay rod to make both brake pedals approximately equal height after you've satifactorily adjusted each individually..... ...Dell
