I've been using my 8n with half-tracks for winter logging and firewooding for a number of years now with great success. Well, yesterday I found the limits in regards to snow depth. I got stuck in snow in the woods and stepped off the tractor into 2 and a half feet of powder snow. Snow up to the hub of the front wheel is no problem but up to the hub of the rear wheels, forget it!
Eventually I got out by rocking it back and forth but then just took it home and parked it. We need a melt!

My Dad used to say (tongue in cheek) that an Oliver on steel wheels would go through so much snow that it would push you off the seat!!! I enjoyed his humor.

My problem with Dad's old N was the fan would blow that deep snow on the front distributor where it melted and then it would get quiet.....

That's still pretty impressive. The fact you could still get it out without outside assistance says the tracks do the job!
