OK, after countless postings on implement specific boards, I had to come to this board. The reason is that although I do not post here I come to this board daily as it is a huge bank of up to date info. It appears that this is the most active board out there. My question is this: I have aquired through a lot deal a Woods L59 belly mower in great condition but I do not need it. What is a fair price to ask for this mower? THANKS!!!!!

Mr. SS: Do you understand that it fits many models WITH THE CORRECT MOUNTING KIT YOU ALSO PURCHASE FROM WOODS. Some parts are the same: ie. the big v-belt pulley may be the same size for all because ag-engineers standardized PTO rpm years ago. But the parts that attach to the frame, and the manual or hydrualic lift system will vary slightly from Farmal to Deere to Allis to Ford and etc. For instance if you see a handle and its rachet bracket, you can about guess it is not for a Ford, unless it has more than one mounting kit. Mike,

I am fully aware that different machines require different hardware kits. I appreciate all of the info that you and the other have provided. Again, I aquired this mower in a lot package and I do not plan to spend a whole lot of time with the details simply because I will not use it. My main thrust of curiosity was value so that I may hopefully find someone who can or is willing to utilize this mower and I can give them a GREAT deal just to free up the space that it is consuming. Again, thanks for all of the info!!!

SS..... ....I WON'T PAY more than 1/2 price of new for anything used unless its in excellent shape, unless it's sumptin' I just "gottahavitts". Price is then determined upon condition and negotiation skills starting at about 1/4 price of new.

Your mission, find the Woods webpage, brouse and get a manufactures suggested list price for a belly mower and then price your Woods L59 accordingly. Make certain you include all the mounting brackets. And NO, I don't have any idea what a used bellymount mower is worth..... ..Dell

Don't know but I might be interested in the mower if the price winds up being right. I'm currently pulling a Woods RD7200 and would much prefer a mid-mount setup.

How old is the unit? I have the Wood's color glossy for their mid-mount mowers for "Vintage Tractors" but can't remember the particulars on the L59. That's a 5 foot finish mower, belt driven off the PTO, side discharge, with hydraulic lift (on N's) as I recall. Does this unit have the necessary hardware for an N series tractor? In particular the Ford sub-frame and PTO pulley components. Oh yes - were are you located?

Mr. SS: You've learned a lot from Dell and others here. Now you need a Woods expert to look at the parts and pieces you have, or you need to study some Woods literature to see if some photographed tractor with Woods-mounted mowers might match yours.
I'm gonna make a wild, wild guess that it fits an A Farmall or B Allis just because those were popular tractors for these mowers. And you are in the heart of A Farmall country. Most (but not all) Ford owners would opt for the handier 3-point versiion of this mower (I have such.) If mounting kits are still available for your mower (I think they are), your deck should still be worth around $400-500 to the right buyer if it is, indeed, like new, as you say. It is worth several hundred more if you know what it fits and have ALL of the parts needed to mount it on that tractor model or models. Heck, the V-belt for the pto-mounted pulley to run the mower costs more than $50. Good luck! Mike-Iowa

Thanks for the QUICK advice! I knew that I would get it here. Here is what I found: L59 U 60" swath, 3 spindle $ 1693 As far as mounting braks for the N, the web site states that this mower will fit most any tractor(s). The mower that I have appears to have been used very little, if any, and I do not know what type of tractor it was mounted on if it ever was? Oh yea, I am in North Carolina. Scott
