Good job on doing it the right way. Why let a flag rot in a landfill? Proper display & disposal should be followed for all flags, for every size & shape of flag. There are always organizations more than willing to dispose of worn-out flags, e.g., VFW Posts, Daughters of the American Revolution (if I have the correct name), Boy Scouts (often for elevation to Eagle Scout), Girl Scouts, 4H, etc. I'm always surprised by people not knowing the proper way to display a flag. After 9/11, a neighbor showed his patriotism by displaying a gigantic American flag on his brand-new 2-story house. He had it properly lighted at night and so forth. Only problem was that he had the star field to the right. That lasted about 3-4 days, and then he got it put up correctly. He had even paid someone with a boom truck to hang it as it was in such an awkward place where a ladder was too risky. Had to pay again to get it displayed right. I'm also surprised by people who wear flag shoulder patches wrong. If I'm not mistaken, the star field goes toward the front. I see this a lot on the TV news. I also see a few local utility trucks with flag stickers where the star field is toward the back of the vehicle. I assume this is wrong also. I assume there're web sites where you could find rules for proper flag display. I only know of a few rules myself, and I’m not sure I remember them correctly. We're all proud of the flag. But we have to remember that is has to be properly displayed and, when it's worn out, properly disposed of. Bri
