Aren't you the minister that just traded for this N?
You will be getting into what is called mission creep.
If you are going to redo the engine the kit with bearings, sleeves, pistons etc. runs about $450. You suould have the block cleaned and magnafluxed and line bored $100.
Check the crank and have it turned $100
Grind the valve seats $50 to $70
Reface the fly wheel $15
Install new ring gear if it is needed $30
get new pressure plate and clutch disk $115
Then while you have it broken for that you will want to change the front transmission seal $3.
Then you won't know how old the water pump is, what the heck another $45
This can go on for a long time.
Then when you are at this point it looks shabby,
Yep another $100 for paint and decals.
Then you will be rideing it around mowing the lawn on that nice running shiney tractor and you will say, what am I going to do now?
Only thing you can do is buy another tractor. But look at all the fun and experience you have at playing with tractors.
Then you will have to have a nice barn to park those shiney old tractors in. With a nice shop with lots of tools in it.
Don't start looking for a second job yet, Wait till you get the first tractor finished.
You're nieghbors will all say. That guy is nutz spent $2,500 on a 50 year old tractor as they jump on thier china made $15,000 lawn mower.
10 years down the road you will be mowing you're lawn with that 60 year old tractor while they are out shopping for a new $20,000 lawn mower.
