Pushing with a scrape blade

I purchased a 6' scrape blade for my N. My first use was pushing (blade turned backwards, driving in reverse) some tree trunks deeper into the woods. My neighbor came by and stated this could quite possibly mess up my lift. Is this true? If so, what effects could it have on my lift?

TIA
Ron

Hi Ron. Pushing has it's advantages, but can also create problems. I broke a rear axle backing into snow banks while widening out the road. If your going to do this, I suggest that when you hit the snow bank, put the cluth in disengaging power to the rear wheels and less stress from a sudden jolt on the axle. Found out that is what many of the snowplowers do, so they don't wreck their transmissions etc. Doing it properly only creates a sore neck. Good Luck.

Ron, I've pushed everything from snow to cars and rock to concrete in this manner. And the only damage I've managed to do was bend my blade. I did figure out it is better to do this with stay arms on so your blade don't push from side to side. John

I believe it might bend your lift arms.
I doubt it could hurt your hydraulics.
The 3 pt was really made to pull with.
Not push.
