just purchased a new pto shaft, 1 3/8. it says on the tag that it is 1 3/8 to 1 3/8. Will that work? I thought the one end had to be 1 1/8 to fit through the pump? I have seen other conversion kits that say 1 1/8 to 1 3/8. any thoughts?

If you got one of the 1 3/8 inch conversion pto kits, you're all set to go. The dimension refers to the outboard size of the shaft, not what goes into the pump. Point the tractor down a steep bank so the a$$ end is in the air, undo the 4 bolts holding the old shaft assembly on, pull out the shaft, put on a new gasket, run the new shaft into the tractor and pump, screw the 4 bolts back in and your good to go. Do it this way and you don't have to drain the hydraulic oil. BTW you may find out how good your transmission shaft seal is on the other end.
