Just had to broadcast this. I got a quart of molasses, added it to about 10 gallons of really hot water, added one lift arm assembly to that potion, added a piece of stainless sheet and positive lead from the battery charger to it and negative lead to the stuck on lift arm. Froth to make a dark beer comes forth. Couldn't get the lift arm off with a 5 ton puller so I attatched the leads to derust the most rust welded area. In the AM I'll go back with the small maul to work it a little more loose. Couldn't get washing soda and knew molasses worked in thicker solution by itself. The charger leads get a little spark on hookup and the bubbles come forth. Just might get this 8n going before the summer, no, spring goes by. I know at least two of you have the derusting link I read last night in the archives, Its so cool to have a solution I can water the flowers with when I'm done. Prentice

Prentice, I think you will be pleased with the results. I have had the "crock pot" brewing most of the winter. I used baking soda. My wifes old cookie sheets have been the sacrifical anode (yes she got a new ones). I have been very pleased. Several bolts that were STUCK came right off after brewing over night. Just remember the only side that cooks is the side facing the anode. Also, the naval jelly works good after the crock pot. It seems to help remove the black oxide and also slow down the return of the "red" stuff.

Good luck
