Sounds like you got the distributor cap wet. try taking it off and drying it. Hope this helps. Good luck.

When you say it stalls; is it the same as turning the ignition switch off or is it a lugging stall were the motor seems like its out of power?
what RPM are you at? idle-1/4-1/2-3/4-full throttle?

Rick..... ...1st question, PTO only runs when it is shifted behind your left heel. You must run your PTO for your 3-point hydraulic pump to lift your arms.

2nd question, too many possibles to be specific. Any wheres from tired engine, bad governor, lean carb, weak sparkies. Inexperienced tractor driver. But yes, it is normal to have to slip the clutch to start out in 4th gear, actually you usually have to slip the clutch on any vehicle when starting out in any gear..... ...Dell

Rick, As Dell said, PTO is operated by the little leaver behind your left foot. It's un-engaged at 12 O'clock, engaged at about 2 O'clock. Depress clutch when shifting if the tractor is running.

As for the pto.. it is direct coupled to the drive train.. but as stated, is engaged by the lever behind your left foot.. perhaps it has always been engaged.. but during washing it slipped out.

You will need to re-engage it to have hyd's as the spinning pto shaft is what turns the pump.

Check your firing order.. an N will run on 2 cyl's and sound ok at higher rpm.. but have no power... My cow used her horns one day and pulled a couple of wires.. I could barely get up the slight grade to my barn before I realized i was a 2cyl 8n. Wires are easy to cross... 1243 is the order.
