I was speaking with a nice gentleman this morning about tractor parts.

He indicated that an original battery cover was installed on the 1940-41 9N tractors. After 1941, they were no longer installed due to some safety issues. Today, they are difficult to find.

Does anyone have information to share or knowledge about the battery cover for the 9N?

I would like to learn more about this item. thank you in advance. 9N'er

my 44 2n came with the battery cover when i purchased from the original family. it had a small hole from the acid of the battery. i bought the decals from oliver smith in denton md. there are very few around and only 2 have been sold on e-bay in the last 3 years that i know of.

1. During the WWII years, were car batteries 6 volt or 12 volt?
2. If one bought a battery off the shelf in those days, what would one have to do in order to charge it up for use?
3. How much did these batteries weigh and what roughly were their measurements?
4. Were batteries easy to come by during WWII? Obviously tires weren't?

Thank you for fielding these questions for me. Don Gates

The pic isn't very good cause it was bright that day but that's my battery cover/splash shield.

Check the link below. Is this what you are talking about? If so, it was not just "40-"41. My 45 2N has one also.

one of those would come in handy if you tend to spill gas on the battery
