Front mount dist

i have a new front mount dist and the brass bushing is sticking out of the bottom of houseing almoxt a eighth of an inch. when i pulled dist to recheck timeing there was brass dust on cam front.would bushing being out at bottom affect timeing? thanks in advance

If I were you, I'd see where the bushing is rubbing and trim it down. You DON'T want metal dust in your electrics.

THe bushing sticking out won't affect timing.

The brass bushing should be flush with the back of the dist. Tap it down w/something round like a socket,you'll have have the shaft out of the housing.It's pretty easy to remove,just remove the timing screw and the big lock ring holding the point plate in.
