I replaced the points and condensor and still no spark. Is there a way to test my coil? If not, I guess it's not an expensive fix to get a new coil and try that, but hate to buy one if I don't need it. And by the way, What else do I check?

I spent yesterday afternoon working on a front mount 8N with no spark. My little test lite said I wasn't getting elec. to the coil. The wire harness was new. Go back to square one and, "clean, bright and tight". The resistor connections were dirty with old paint and rust. I then put a known good distributor on the tractor and it fired. I will clean and repair as needed the distributor that I took off and keep it handy.

Coil are cheap and if replacing one doesn't fix the problem, at least you have a spare. Also check the grounding strip inside the distributor and all electrical connections. Make sure your points are keeping their gap after you have put everything back together and tried to start her up. Not uncommon for points to slip closed.
