I just bought a 2n with front mount distributor.
It would not start when I bought it but I figured I could fix it. Wrong. Tried everything I could think of and still no fire. Took the distributor off my other 2n which runs great and put it on the one that will not start. Still no fire. Checked voltage to coil. OK. On the distributor that I took off my good 2n I also used the coil that I know is good. Ocassionally, I see a very weak spark but only one time and then it quits for a good while. Any ideas? Thanks.

Check the plug wires.
That's the problem I had with mine today.
Also try new plugs if you haven't already.

Paul..... ...since by replacing your entire 2N frontmount ignition system (coil and points) with a known good unit, check your ignition switch. You can get good volts (3.5 ideal, but 2.5 to 4.0) but not enuff power (amps) and its amps that make the sparkies sparkle. You doubt? Jump around your ignition switch with a alligator clippies.

Also, REMEMBER the 6 volt mantra: "keep'em clean, bright, and tight". And don't be fer usin' enny of them thar wimpy ferrin 12 volt battery cables. Gettcha some 'arry chested 'merrican thick as your thumb 1/0 battery cables..... ....Dell

How's the compression? You say you tried a known good distributer. Cap and coil also? Is the cam turning? You may have a bad cam timeing gear.
