Have a problem with flat tires on my riding mower. 2 suggestions were talked about. 1 - flatproof tires, 2 - foam fill the tires that are there now. They are the front caster tires that hold the front of the deck up on a zero turn rider. Anybody have experience with either? Thank you.

I have no experience with a zero turning radius mower, but have had lots of flat tires on my old rider. That is until I Slimed them. Almost none since then.

Harbor Freight and lots of other businesses sell Slime. There are 2 kinds, one for tube tires and one for tubeless.

I had the front tires of my 641D foamed after being unable to keep the fairly new tires from going flat from lots of Hawthorn thorns. It cost over $100, but I never had any more flats. And one of those foamed tires had a tree branch puncture the casing. Foaming does make the tires give less, but they do not feel completely solid. Foaming those front tires was the best thing I ever did to that tractor, just from relieving aggravation.

I would sure try Slime or a similar product first. You might get by for a lot less money and it is easy to do yourself. If that doesn't work, foaming is still an option. I was able to get the tractor tires foamed at a large industrial tire place. They told me that my tires were the smallest ones they ever remembered foaming. Good luck!

Years ago I bought a bicycle and had flat after flat just going down a walking trail (old railroad grade) near my home. Turns out there is a kind of bush that sheds incedibly sharp thorns all along the sides of the trail. The bicycle shop said "no problem, It happens all the time." They filled the tubes with a solution called 'slime'. I haven't had a flat since and I rode regularly for six or seven years. So you might ask your local bicycle shop about a solution.

N - joy.

yea that foam is supposedly a very hard ride from what i have heard, and when i was at the connecticut construction expo a few months back i had asked about how much it would be to get a set of haywagon tires foam filled with foam, i figured that way i wouldnt have to worry about them for years, they told me around 130 bucks a tire!! i figure at that price i could buy all new tire and tubes and just deal with the flats as they come, i could replace alot of tubes for that amount of money. one thing that i had thought might be a good application for foam filling was the small little tires on a hay teddrr, they are always getting stabed or the valvestems broken off and being that they are so small i cant imagine it could be too expensive. i dont see why the foam wouldnt work for your front mower tires, i know we have had a few lawn tractors over the years that we put hard rubber front tires on,i even had a set of the hard tires from a forklift on the back of one lawn tractor, that didnt ride too awful but the traction was terrible, good luck randy

A friend of mine foam filled the tires on his mower a couple of years ago. He said the bearings wore out in no time on the wheels and the mower would jar his teeth out every time he mowed since there was no air in the tires for cushion.
Hope this helps.

you might want to look into these... I have received samples in the past but, have never tried them.

Good luck,
Steve
