where is the oil filter located on these 8N's a 1949? cant find one. i know this is a stupid question, but it'd be even dumber if i tried to spare my pride and ruined the engine in the process. ya i know that's not all im missin. cant waite to see what i get back this time. i just thought the toilet flushin lever was bad. so go ahead and give it to me, i deserve it anyway. thanks. be safe

No worries man, we all have to start somewhere. Like Mr. Myagi said " no matter how much karate you know daniel-san, someone always know more than you." Even experts miss things at times. I thought I was pretty savy with engines..I have rebuilt sevral VW bug motors, and have had the same lawnmower for years (rebuilt the engine twice) and for the life of me I can't figure out why my 8n won't start. I finally had to call the "tractor doctor" to come pick up my old N and take it to the tractor hospital. But, in answer to your question..Left side of motor (if you are sitting on the seat) cannister type filter, that unscrews from the top. They are pretty easy to come by. Napa is your best bet for finding one quickly....that's where I buy mine. Good luck, and be safe

On my 46 2N it is on the left in a canister.
But on my 41 9N it had been by passed and just has a rubber hose running there connecting the two lines.
It may be that someone has by passed yours too if you don't see the canister.

As your setting on the tractor. Left side round canister just ahead of the starter. Behind the oil fill tube.
