Rick, like I said above in another post, give your location (or check with a local farmer) and get some initial on site help. I was 10 when my father started me plowing but he would "lay out" the field first with "back furrows". It really didn't take long to be able to do it myself. That was 50 years ago.
The condition of your plow plays a big part in being able to plow. Worn, broken or missing parts will make an easy job difficult.

Hi Rick, Here is what I think you will need. Plow, which you all ready have. This breaks open the ground. A furrow is the rut that the plow turns over. After you plow your first row the right front tire of your tractor goes in your left side furrow to plow your second row. And so on and so on. You get the picture. If you get an 8N owners manual the back section talks about plowing. After you plow you disc. This breaks up the clums of soil the plow turned over into loose soil. Next is planting. Look for a two row planter or a single row. You change the plates in the planter for the different seeds you will be planting. Corn, beans, etc. After the crops begin to grow the cultivator comes into play. You space out the tines to scratch up the soil between you row crops to hamper weed growth. Prices for these implements used disc $200-$500. Planter 2 row $350-$500. Cultivator $75-150. In the picture ads a few days ago there was a nice disc in Tenn. Like someone else said start small 1 or 2 acers until you get the hang of it. E-mail me if you wannt to talk some more. Good luck.

First, to explain the term furrow , you said you had a "two bottom" plow which is really called a two "furrow"plow. It you measure the distance between the centre of the beams(beams are what the mouldboars are attached to)you will know the width each furrow will turn over. For example, if the beams are 24"apart, you have a 2 furrow 12" plow. Before anyone can suggest a list of implements you'll need, they should know where you live and the type of soil you have. Another thing, you may not realize how BIG a 10 acre "garden" would be and the work involved in a garden that big! Better to start with an acre or less in garden with the balance in a plow-down crop of some sort in order to build up your land and provide you with some acreage to play in.

I don't know how serious you are about this but I will give you my take on this. If you already have a two bottom breaking plow, thats the place to start. Find you a good disc, preferably a tandam about 5 ft. If you are gonna "garden" 10 acres you probably need some sort of planter and then a cultivator to help fight them pesky weeds. You are gonna learn farmin aint easy but it can be rewarding. Start small and simple. Just my opinion.
