I am in the process of replacing the head on my 2N and have a question about the cylinder sleeves. While cleaning the old gasket material off the top of the block I bumped the starter to bring up the two down pistons and take down the two up pistons so I could inspect all the cylinder walls. When doing so, one of the sleeves moved up about 1/4". I was able to slide it back into it's proper place with no problem. Can anyone tell me are these dry sleeves or wet sleeves? I checked for coolant in the oil and saw none but the block is pretty well drained at this point. I would appreciate any info on this matter.

They are dry sleeves in the Ns. Just on the other side of the sleeve is another wall in the block keeping the water out. Mark H.

Thanks for the information. My dad told me he was 99% sure they were dry sleeves but, it has been several years since had been around one.

The Ferguson TO 20s and 30s have wet sleeves and use rubber O-Rings to seal them from leaking and also have much thicker sleeves in them. Mark H.
