Gasket interfering with start-up

After front mount tune up and replacing all the gaskets discovered that the gasket between cap and coil keeps my tractor from firing. If I put the cork appx. 1/8 gasket on, the tractor won't fire. Without gasket fires right up. gasket seems ill fitted as it wrinkles some almost if it's a bit oversize. This was a four pack replacement kit of gaskets for the front mount Dist. Does the gasket go up into that small indentation on the bottem of the coil or sit directly on the cap. Without the gasket the coil is somewhat loose and obviously offers no protection. wrong gasket or wrong installation?

Gasket goes up into the indentation. If that doesn't work, sometimes you have to extend the spring on the coil just a little bit. Be careful you don't break it off. Good Luck. Ron

Extend the spring and make sure the gasket is seating properly.
