Go to ebay. Comes with all the wiring and alternator. The only thing i changed was i put a toggle switch in to charge the alternator so you dont have to rev the engine to excite the alternator.

Att the top of this forum.. there is a link to 12v kits. There are also other places available to get kits.. or you can 'roll your own'. Many ways to do it wrong.. and still many ways to do it right...
There are tons of diagrams around here.. someone will probably send you one.
Email me if you need more info.

I was going to do this as well. My generator is bad. Luckly I have a 12 volt system with 12V generator. Alternator is $45. (plus wire)

...are you wanting to convert? The original system properly maintained (clean, bright and tight)is very reliable! 12 volt systems are more common today that doesn't mean they're better, but if you want to hook up an am-fm/cd player,or a cigarette lighter it might be worth the expence.
