A few months back I had asked a question as to why my brakes, no matter how loose they were set, were still scrubbing the brake drum to the point of not allowing the wheel to turn smoothly and heating the drum to the point it would get hot enough to burn. Answer FOUND!

Both of my rear hubs are shot! A previous owner had shimmed the axle nut so as to press the hub further up the axle. This allows the side of the brake drum to come in contact with the side of the brake shoe.

Maybe this will help someone,

Thanks

Ron

It is unbelievable what some of the previous owners have done. I have found that the previous owner mounted the distributor shaft gear upside down....resulting is lots of play, but it ran.
