I think he means a 4 spoke steering wheel.

Keep in mind that it's worth more to a collector than to average joe farmer. For average joe, the 8N is actually more valuable. But for collector Joe, you have a true treasure...still, I'd say about $2000 tops unless museum quality. It's not 1st year, or last year 9N. Still valuable, but perhaps dissapointing. Don't sell out, because sentimental value still counts for something to some people.

A 1940 would be a 9N. However, did you mean a 4 speed as in 4 forward gears and 1 reverse or 3 forward and 1 reverse? If it is the former then someone has swapped some stuff.

A lot depends on the visual appearance of the tractor and the overall condition and the location. Some guys talk about picking up some really nice tractors for next to nothing. I recently bought an 8N for a friend and paid $2900 for the tractor, 2B plow, 5' bush hog and 6' back blade.

If it's 1940, it's a 9N. Worth??? WHatever some guy is willing to pay for it. It may bring anywheres from $1500-$2000 or more(see previous sentence).
