I know this mower was made for the 8N. Does anyone know if it will fit on a 9N? My only reason to doubt it is the foot pegs on the 9N. Are they removeable? In order to mount this mower on the 8N, you have to remove the running boards. I am looking to get a second "N" and dedicate it to mowing since it is a bear to mount & remove this mower. 9's are less money in my area.

Art,

Looking at my manual, I would say that the left foot peg will not be in the way, so you could leave it on. The right side is different. There the tilt and curb lift levers will get in the way it looks like. You could just use the radius arm cap from an 8N - should be a straight match up. NOW as to where you are going to put your right foot..... :-) I think in this case you could use a right side foot rest from an 8N since the front bracket hooks to the right side mower frame, not the tranny case. The rear bracket uses the inspection plate holes which I think are in the same location on the 9N's as on the 8N's.

Other wise the frame for each side should match the 9N just like it does on an 8N. HOWEVER, you will need a Zane Thang because you need position control to raise and lower the cutter bar. Tha is one advantage of the center mower, it will cut from something like 45° down to almost 90° up depending up on the adjustment - think the maximum angle that the bar can be moved is 90°, but that may be also adjustable.

Regards,
Larry
