No jack or puller needed. Use a automotive C type valve spring compressior and remove the keepes then valve and spring. you can then drive down the guide and remove the lock and remove the guide. As for stones do you have a hard seat grinder?. If you don't have a pilot for the stone you can use a new valve guide and the right pilot.
not sure of the valve stem size but i am sure its standard sized. If your pocket book can stand it they do have a hand seat and valve cutter. try K-line 800-253-2648. or do a search for goonson.

Sounds good to me. Thanks.
I don't know what the seats look like and I don't have any of the resurfacing tools. I have removed the valve chamber cover and see that part of one piece of the two-piece guide is missing on #2 intake. #2 fouls a lot. I'm hoping I can work the block and the machine shop can rework any valves. Who knows, maybe I can get by with stones and not have to cut anything. If it's within the wear limits is stays in there, probably....

Two piece valves? I have not run into any of them. I know earlier modles had them. Not sure the automotive compressior will remove them. I think you have to remove them as a assy. you then would have to push the guide down and remove the lock. You would need to bend a screwdriver to do this, or get a tool. You may repost and ask this ?
Do you have the motor off the tractor.

It's a two-piece guide. End of these valve stems are mushroom shaped. They come out of the block same as the single-piece guide valve assemblys.
I said rework the block but I should have said rework the seats. I'm not planning on taking the motor out because I hope this is more of a repair and less like an overhaul.

On the one piece guide the valve will come out with the guide in the head. I think on the two piece guide they have to come out as a assy. (guide spring and valve).
