I posted this question a while back and did not get a response. So I thought it might be time to do her again. Has anyone had their steering wheel recovered by Minnkota in Minnesota, the same folks that repair the Rest-O-Ride seat springs? They say that they recover them in rubber and that that is what the steering wheels had on them originally. They said that the original rubber becomes hard after many years and that is why they crack. The OEM replacement steering wheels have plastic on them. The recovering is about $70 with shipping plus whatever it takes to get it there. What's the scoop?

Thanks

Never had one done, but they've been in business a long time. The originals were hard rubber. After the solvents cure out they get really hard and the black stuff comes off on your hands. There are new repro wheels just like the originals. The plastic things you get at Tractor SUpply aren't very attractive. Just depends on what you like.
