3-Point Hitch Hydraulics

I am wondering if I have some kind of problem with low hydraulic pressure in my 3-point hitch.

I have a heavy 3-point disk that the 8-N has trouble lifting. Also, I tried using the hitch to lift up and re-level a small shed roof and could not move it. Later I used a small bottle jack and could lift it with no problem.

Seems like the 3-point should have more power than that. Any comments from anyone? Any way to easily check this hydraulic pressure?

Or, your pressure releif valve is leaking. Remove the inspection plate as Dell suggests and look for the fluid swirling as a sign the releif valve is leaking with a load on it about half way up.

Al..... ..even in good condition, the N-Hydraulic's can ONLY LIFT about 750# before the front wheels come off the ground. Practically speaking, 500+ and you tractor is twinkle toes. A good 3-point disk gonna weigh close to 600#.

And if you still think you have hydraulic pressure issues, just remove your 6" round dipstick plate and look inside while you try to lift your disk. If your hydraulics are "bad" you'll be squirtin'. Thats a quick and dirty test and doesn't require you to measure the 1700 psi hydraulic pressure at the corner test port. (which also requires you to try and lift a chained down lift arm)

N.B..... .500# is 1/4 Ton. Even a small bottle jack is good for 1 ton (2000 lbs)..... ...Dell
