can any one tell me where to find the timing marks on the 9n or 2n I aint sure witch it is front mount dist.red motor grey tin 3 speed tranny thanks Ron

What Brian said. The front mount distributor is made to be removed and worked on at your workbench. 2 bolts hold it on, and I like to remove the coil before I take it off. When you put it back on unless you force it wrong it will only go on one way-the tang is offset.

Ron,
There aren't any.
The 9N and 2N (and early 8N)are the same for timing the distributor. You need two steel rules. The tang on the rear side should be parallel to the mounting holes. When aligned, it should be 1/4 inch from the mount hole. At this point the point contacts should just be opening. There is a timing plate and adjustment screw on the left side. Move the plate down to advance, or up to retard the timing. This is tough to visualize or explain. Buy and FO-4 manual and check pages 57-58.
