Rob, Thanks for your reply. Just as my reason to replace the pump makes sense to ME, your reason is just as valid to YOU. I'm looking at it from a business view, you are looking at it as a labor of love. I like that. Quick story, several years ago I sold a man a 2N Ford, literally in buckets, as he was looking for a project to work on over the winter. Before selling it to him I advised him that it would be cheaper to buy a 2N from us that we'd already been through. No, he didn't want that. For the next 2-3 months, every Saturday, he'd come in and buy parts and tell me about the progress he and his son were making. The final time he came in he brought pictures and it was beautiful. The man broke down and started crying when he told me that before the project began he and his son( a teenager) were at odds with each other. The tractor project brought them in contact with each other each weekend and they found something they had in common, restoring the Ford. The man admitted that yes the project was more money than if he'd gotten an already restored tractor, but that wasn't the importance ----it was bringing he and his son together. I'll never forget that story. Thanks for writing me as you made me remember that not everything is based on money. Gary

just a comment on the waterpump issue, i remember a few years ago my father went to get a waterpump rebuild kit for his naa, they are pretty simple to rebuild so why not, our dealer told us the same thing, cheaper to replace it,well he looked up the price, kit was like 66 bucks and change, the whole pump was 54.99

Yep. The kit on this one is $26 + S&H and the pump is like $50 including the shipping.
I've can get the seal for $3 and if I can get the bearing I might repair it for around $10. When I get it off I'll know. Seems like I've replaced a seal and bearing on a few of these Ford water pumps and been good to go. Been awhile.
