Has anyone tried new Dodge HEMI? Took my truck for service and they gave me 2003 Dodge quad cab 4x4 with 360(5.9) hemi for the day, I have same truck in 2002 model 1500 with regular 360 works good. I though maybe a 2500 model with HEMI might be even better, my service man says 100 HP & 90 lbs of torque more than mine!Who knows about these trucks?? BURT.

I have a older Dodge D350 (1 ton) with a Cummins Turgo Diesel. Not nearly as powerful as the new ones today, but I would recommend it for hauling.

I was shocked at the gas milage I'm getting (20+mpg), and it can easily be a daily driver.

I haul a small dozer on a 9 ton equip trailer, and sometimes I let my NAA ride, too!!

Now that's a great angle for getting a new truck! Way to go!
Are you gonna get a gray one with red interior?

Don't know about 8n colours, I have red sport truck now with black int. and all the toys and extras. My wife didn't know I was buying it and she is natural red head, so colours don't match. Also its her turn to be Co. pres. this year, I may have to wait a year until its my turn to be pres. again. LOL. BURT.

Burt..... ....I really love my 1995 3/4T Dodge 2500 Cummins Diesel 2WD autotranny and its 22 mpg for towing 7000 gvw trailers loaded with old iron. I don't think the 1/2T Dodge 1500 is rated for towing anything over 4000 lbs and you'd be lucky to get 12 mpg..... ....Dell

Your right about the gas mileage, but I am used to poor mileage. My present truck has towed 7000lb., it has trailer pkg & trans cooler etc. It tows about the same as the 350 Cevy (1997) I traded in and about same mileage. I think 3/4 ton has beter brakes and towing capacity. I know the diesel is the answer, but towing is only about 2% of its usage. I have to have a gas for work ( to support the tractor habit). Thanks for info. BURT

How can you stand it with the fuel prices up there? Every time I drive a pickup to Toronto the locals look at it as if they'd never seen something that big. And buying fuel is a painful process!;-)

I have to disagree, the 1/2 ton Dodge 4x4 with 5.2 or 5.9 and automatic is rated at 8100lbs towing capacity. 4000lbs might be the rating for a V6 and a stick. The average 1/2 ton truck with a V8 and automatic, regardless of MFG can pull 6000 - 7700 lbs. Check your owner's manual for this information.

I must agree that the Cummins powered truck has everything beat in the fuel economy department. The Duramax may have it beat in power, but it can't beat it in cost per mile... If it just wasn't for the bad publicity Dodge has gotten for it's transmission..

I towed tandem axle trailer (brakes on both axles), with Ford 4000, tires loaded, one armed loader and 8-900 Lbs parts in truck, about 200 miles. Present truck handled it O.K. I used to tow trailer with 651 Ford loaded tires and back blade with 1989 Dakota Sport convertable 4X4, but was a big load. The Dakota only came wth 3.9 V6 in 1989. BURT.
